NEW ORLEANS -- Mitch Landrieu, 49, drew votes from across racial lines to win the mayor's post Saturday night, becoming the first white mayor of the city since his father, Moon Landrieu, more than 30 years ago.
Landrieu, the state's lieutenant governor for the past six years, will take office on May 3. He is the brother of US Sen. Mary Landrieu and was a state representative for 16 years.
