The phone was ringing at Jake’s Snapper in Abbeville on Tuesday and on the other end of the line were residents who could not start their generators.
When the phone begins ringing off the hook with people worried about their generators, that only means one thing - there is a hurricane nearby.
“We had a generator come in this morning and we’re expecting three more later today,” Christian Hebert of Jake’s Snapper said. “I need to work on these generators first before the lawn mowers. They will need them more if that hurricane comes.”

In the parish, the 150 bed jail facility owned and maintained by the Vermilion Parish Police Jury is always at capacity with an average of 35 inmates in overflow facilities around the state at any given time.

Never thinking he would get it back, Breaux purchased a new one exactly like the one that was stolen weeks later.

The latest meeting of the commission was a productive one with the finalization of the by-laws, the creation of an advisory committee, the appointment of Odile Secrest as Vice-Chairman and a new e-mail address where interested persons, entities or film companies can contact the commission directly.
