LA Cattle Festival wins big at convention
The Louisiana Cattle Festival Association was a big winner at the 2010 Louisiana Association of Fairs & Festivals Convention.
The Louisiana Cattle Festival’s biggest winner was the 61st Louisiana Cattle Festival Queen, Courtney Hoffpauir, who was selected as the 2010 Louisiana Association of Fairs & Festivals Queen of Queens. She was chosen among 83 contestants.
Possible Acadian discovery made in Canada
Last week, new discoveries were made that could possibly have a connectionto the Acadian era in Nova Scotia.
Workers came across wooden structures while digging in the marsh near present-day Allison, the presumed site of Village Beausoleil. The photos were taken on the site last Wednesday. Unfortunately, the ground was covered with snow, but it does give an idea of the site.

Pictures from Vermilion Health Care’s recently held “Prom Night” with their adopted Vermilion Catholich High School senior class. Reba Broussard’s senior class has been hosting “Prom Night” with Vermilion Health Care residents for the past 13 years. A prom Queen and King is selected and the King and Queen go on to compete for the Louisiana Nursing Home King and Queen pageant. Reigning as 2010 King and Queen for Vermilion Health Care is Mrs. Norma Dartez and Mr. Allen Sellers.
Veselka awarded Presidents Cup for ARC of LA

Donna Veselka was recently awarded the Presidents Cup at the Arc of Louisiana annual Awards Banquet held in Baton Rouge, LA.
According to Scottie Daigle, Executive Director of Vermilion Arc, Donna is very deserving of this award. She is very active in both the local Arc(Vermilion Arc) and the state Arc(Louisiana Arc), where she serves as board member of both organizations. She is a great advocate for people with Developmental Disabilities and works hand in hand with Vermilion Arc to create avenues for consumers of Vermilion Arc to acheive goals to the best of thier abilities.
