School Board to decide on name of new school

The Vermilion Parish School Board is expected to select a name for the new elementary school that will be built one day located north of Erath.
School Board members narrowed the list of names to two names - LeBlanc Elementary School and North Road Elementary.
LeBlanc Elementary is named after U.P LeBlanc, who was the school superintendent years ago.
North Road is the street located along side of the school.
The School Board members narrowed the names down to two after starting with five.
Their choices were LeBlanc Elementary, LeBlanc/Henry Elementary, North Road Elementary, East Vermilion Elementary, Erath Elementary or Norman Romero Elementary.
This year, the School Board purchased land at the corner of North Road and La. 338, which is about five miles north of the La. 14 Bypass.
The school will be for pre-k through fifth grade students.
Students who live north of Erath and west of Abbeville are expected to attend.
However, the school will be be built until FEMA gives the School Board $13 million to help pay for the construction.
The School Board does not know when that will occur.
