$115,000 pavilion built at Erath High
ERATH – Erath High, practically a new school after Hurricane Rita, recently completed the construction of a new pavilion which did not cost the School Board a penny.
Devon Energy donated the money to build it. It cost just over $115,000 and is located behind the gym and school.
Gulf Coast Bank also donated funds to help pay for the 10 benches under the pavilion.
Gulf Coast Bank President Paul Patout and Erath Branch Manager Janice Morvant presented EHS principal Francis Touchet a check.
The pavilion was completed two weeks ago, in time for homecoming activities.
Erath Principal Francis Touchet was happy to see the project finished for homecoming festivities. “It was a goal of the administration to have this structure completed for the entire community to enjoy the rich Homecoming tradition here at EHS,” he said. “As long as I am principal, the Homecoming tradition will continue as it has in the past.”
The newly landscaped, covered area is located in the middle of the campus between the main building and the Agriculture building. A local company, Devon Energy, completely funded the project. “I would like to thank Devon Energy for their continued commitment to EHS as we rebuild after the recent hurricanes,” added Touchet.
Erath’s administration would like the pavilion to be a hub of activity on campus. The pavilion will be used during lunch breaks by all students. It will also be available for class and club meetings as well as other activities.
Students are impressed with the pavilion as well. Junior Brye LeBlanc commented, “Everyone is happy with the new pavilion. It looks nice, and it will be a great place for student activities.
