Acorns of Hope, a group coordinated by Bob Thibodeaux, president of Bob's Tree Preservation, traveled to Abbeville Friday as part of their Tour de Trees campaign.
This was the second annual Tour de Trees event, whose goal is to plant 2,000 trees along the coast of Louisiana. Starting at Lake Charles, some 40 cycling arborists and tree-thusiasts from around the country and Toronto, Canada, made their way through Abbeville en route to Houma, La.
The cycling arborists are attempting to help encourage citizens in Louisiana to take part in coastal restoration by planting native Live Oak saplings along the coast. The group pictured here met in Magdalen Square for a luncheon hosted by the Keep Abbeville Beautiful Committee before proceeding to Comeaux Park to plant five Live Oak saplings.
In addition to planting at AA Comeaux Park, Bob's Tree Preservation planted a tree on Maude Avenue in memory of the late Joseph L. Broussard, who is Bob's Tree Preservation coordinator Joe Domovich's uncle who passed away two weeks ago.
