The Christian Service Center will have a family fun day Saturday to help the children get ready for school.
The fun day begins at 9 a.m. and lasts until 3 p.m. at the Christian Service Center located at 701 Chevis Street in Abbeville.
“We want to give the kids something fun to do right before school starts,” said Darla Castille, the director of the Christian Service Center.
Volunteers and workers from Christian Service Center will be on hand to help.
There will be a $5 all-day charge for the water slide.
Castille said the center will also be selling barbecue plate lunches, beginning at 10:30 a.m. For $6, the center will offer chicken or pork chop dinners. The meal comes with a drink.
The meat and the sides were donated.
The money raised from the fun day will go towards running the Christian Service Center.
Also on hand will be the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Department’s Command Unit, the Abbeville Police Department and the fire department.
The police department will fingerprint children from 9 a.m. to noon.
