Locals appointed to state boards and commissions
Two men and one woman with ties to Vermilion Parish have been appointed by Gov. Bobby Jindal to serve on state boards.
Mayor Mark Piazza and Linda Zaunbrecher, a rice farmer from Gueydan, were appointed to the Advisory Commission on Coastal Protection, Restoration and Conservation.
The Governor’s Advisory Commission on Coastal Protection, Restoration and Conservation serves to advise the governor and the executive assistant for coastal activities relative on the overall status and direction of the state’s coastal protection and restoration program.
Kenneth “Kenu” Romero, a Vermilion Parish rice and crawfish farmer, was appointed to the Louisiana Racing Commission.
The Louisiana Racing Commission serves to enforce rules and regulations, propose legislation, and develop policies for the Louisiana racing industry. Furthermore, it ensures the legitimate performance of all racing animals and the accountability of pari-mutuel wagering in Louisiana.
Mayor Piazza will serve as a representative of a governing body of political subdivisions of the state.
Zaunbrecher is the former president of the Louisiana Rice Growers Assoc. She will serve as a representative of the agricultural community.
Romero will represent the 3rd Congressional District.
