Will Simon and the VC Eagles will be at home Thursday in the first round of the playoffs.

Two parish boy's teams make basketball playoffs

The LHSAA released the boy’s playoff brackets Monday afternoon, and two parish teams are in.
Under first-year head coach John Thompson, Vermilion Catholic is No. 9 and will play a first-round home game this week.
The Eagles (15-6) will play Central Private (10-19), the No. 24th seed, on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Thompson, a VC graduate, is excited to be in the playoffs.
“I’m very excited and proud of our kids for buying into a first-year head coach’s beliefs and philosophy,” Thompson said. “I had certain expectations for this year, and we accomplished quite a few.
“Making the playoffs was one of them. I just can’t enough about these kids about and the heart and energy they play with every game.”
The North Vermilion Patriots have secured a home game in the first round.
The Patriots, coming off a loss to Northside on Friday, will be the No. 15 seed and will play No. 19 Iota (21-7) in the first round. They will play Friday at 6 p.m.
The Eagles are coming off a 57-39 win over Hanson to end the regular season.
VC led the entire game and built as much as a 30-point lead.
The Eagles exploded for 19 points in the first period and 15 in the second frame. Will Simon led VC with 13 points and Jonathan Dartez had 11. Other scorers were Sam Mayard (9), Jyrin Bessard (9), James Bradley (2), Joe Langlinais (2), Jackson Trahan ((6), Cole Albert (2) and Ty LeBlanc (4).
