Coach Craig Blanchard was named Kaplan High School’s 2020-2021 Teacher of the year! Coach Blanchard’s kinship for the students and his coworkers is seen everyday at Kaplan High School. He is surely a vital asset to the Pirate Ship! Blanchard is pictured with KES Principal Patricia Thibodeaux.

Angie Detraz named Seventh Ward Elementary Teacher of the Year

Seventh Ward Elementary Principal Marlene Primeaux presented Ms. Angie Detraz with flowers on Friday. Ms. Angie was chosen as Teacher of the Year by her faculty and staff for 2020. She goes above and beyond her teaching job description to teach and help the students and faculty in this school. She is very dedicated to the education of our children and tries to help each individual reach their potential.

Abbeville Garden Club holds October meeting

The Abbeville Garden Club met at the LSU Ag Center Meeting Room in Abbeville on Monday, October 19, 2020. Hostess for the event was Susie Ledet. Co-hostesses were Odile Segrest and Karen Hoyt. Club President Marietta Clark presided over the meeting.
Lafayette Parish Master Gardeners and Abbeville Garden Club members Jeanell Duhon and Denise Files were the program speakers. The focus of the program was “Daylilies”. The presentation included information on the care of daylilies and the proper techniques for propagating daylilies.
