Joy ride turns scary for three Vermilion Parish teenagers

What started out as joy ride in a sugar cane field, turned into a scary ordeal for three teenagers in Vermilion Parish.
According to Eddie Langlinais, Public Information Officer, and Violent Crimes Task Force Director for the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office, on September 17, 2022, the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division was called out to investigate a report of an armed robbery that took place in the Leroy area of Vermilion Parish.

On Monday morning, students and staff had to leave the campus because of a bomb threat note located in the school bathroom.

Bomb threat note located in Rene Post Middle School bathroom in Kaplan

KAPLAN - In less than a week, there was another bomb scare at a Vermilion Parish school.
At around 9 a.m. on Monday, a bomb threat note was located in a Rene Rost Middle School restroom.
Students, staff, and faculty were moved off campus while law enforcement searched the campus with three bomb-smelling dogs furnished by the Erath Police Department and La. K-9.
The dogs located no bomb.
By 11 a m. the students and faculty were brought back to the middle school, where school continued.

On Wednesday, the Erath Police were in the high school searching for a bomb.

Erath student allegedly confesses to writing bomb threat note

An Erath High student allegedly confessed to the Erath High administration for writing the bomb threat note on the wall in the Erath High gymnasium bathroom.
The student’s name has not been released, and as of 10:50 a.m., it is unknown if charges were filed against the student.
The bomb threat happened Wednesday morning after a student walked into the boy’s bathroom in the gym and saw writing on the wall.
The note allegedly said, “F...this school, I want to blow it up.”
The student reported the note to the Erath administration.

Bomb threat note found on wall in Erath boy’s restroom in gymnasium

ERATH - On Wednesday morning, someone wrote a note on the boy’s restroom wall in the Erath High gymnasium that allegedly said, “F...this school, I want to blow it up.”
A student saw the note when he went to the restroom and reported it to the Erath High administration.
The EHS administration quickly investigated the note, determined it was a threat and announced a school evacuation over the intercom.
Over the next two hours, the high school and middle school were evacuated and searched by bomb-smelling dogs.
No bomb was located.

Meeting for seafood processers interested in Block Grant program Friday at LSU Ag Center in Abbeville

BATON ROUGE – Earlier this year, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced its investment to support Louisiana seafood processing facilities and processing vessels, including at-sea processors or dealers, for expenses related to COVID-19.
The meeting is Friday morning (June 10) at the LSU Ag Center (1105 West Port Sttreet) in Abbeville. It will be from 10 a.m. until noon.
