Violent Crime Task Force makes arrest in Abbeville

According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office’s Public Information Officer Eddie Langlinais, last week during the week end hours, while conducting patrols, the Vermilion Parish Violent Crimes Task Force’s Criminal Suppression Unit (VCTF-CSU) performed a traffic stop within the city limits of Abbeville at Maude and Schessinger.
The traffic stop led to a search warrant of the vehicle which resulted in the seizure of narcotics and a 9mm handgun.
Arrested was Theion Clement (B/M, DOB: 07/28/2002) of Abbeville, charged with Possession of Marijuana and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile.
An unnamed juvenile was also arrested for Possession of Firearm by a juvenile, possession of marijuana, and a curfew violation.
Langlinais said, “The personnel within the VCTF-CSU from the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Abbeville Police Department are working together to make a safer Vermilion Parish. We’re making progress and we will not stop until the violent criminals are off our streets. Now that Crime Stoppers is active, proven anonymous reporting through the P3 App is now possible. Residents deserve to right to live a normal and peaceful life, and the only way to make this possible is through the communities working together with local law enforcement.”
Sheriff Mike Couvillon said, “As promised, I will continue to move your Sherriff’s office forward until the very last day I serve. We are fortunate to have a Violent Crimes Task Force comprised of seasoned law enforcement personnel from the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Abbeville Police Department. I would like to extend my thanks to Abbeville Mayor Piazza and Chief Spearman for their participation in our collaborative efforts.”
