According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office’s Public Information Officer Eddie Langlinais, last week during the week end hours, while conducting patrols, the Vermilion Parish Violent Crimes Task Force’s Criminal Suppression Unit (VCTF-CSU) performed a traffic stop within the city limits of Abbeville at Maude and Schessinger.
The traffic stop led to a search warrant of the vehicle which resulted in the seizure of narcotics and a 9mm handgun.

​What started as officers responding to a call of shots fired Saturday afternoon in Abbeville ended with two arrests in Lafayette.
On Nov. 13, at approximately 2:50 p.m. officers of the Abbeville Police Department responded to the 1500 block of Felicity Street in reference to a “Shots Fired” call.

Everyone leading a school at this moment deserves some recognition.
With that said, the Vermilion Parish School System can award Principal of the Year to only one person at each level.
This year, the awards go to Eaton Park Elementary’s Angela Godwin, Erath Middle School’s Dana Primeaux and Erath High School’s Marc Turner.
“All of our Vermilion principals are very deserving,” Vermilion Parish Superintendent Tommy Byler said, “especially with the current state of education and all the obstacles that come with it.
