Farrell Trahan of Cut Off spent at least 20 minutes at the gas pumps in Abbeville filling up at least 300 gallons of gas to bring to Cut Off, his home town.

Farrell Trahan of Cut Off was filling at least 10 red gas cans, along with 5 white gallon buckets with gas at a gas station in Abbeville on Wednesday morning. He was taking the gas back to Cut Off to help families keep their generators running.

Helping their community

In Cut Off, Grand Isle, Raceland, and the Houma areas, gas is being called “Liquid Gold.”
Farrell Trahan, a resident from Cut Off (located south of New Orleans), was in Abbeville filling up 300 gallons of gas to transport to his hometown of Cut Off. Trahan and his wife have been living with Abbeville friends Ricky Dupree for the last week because their home suffered wind damage and there is no electricity in Cut Off. Because there is no electricity, there are no gas stations open to supply gas to keep generators operating.

Abbeville Police looking for suspect allegedly involved in fatal ‘18 shooting

Abbeville Police has already made multiple arrests in connection to the 2018 shooting death of Marlon Brown.
Wednesday morning, the department announced that it is looking for another suspect allegedly involved in the case. ​Jermaine Guidry of Abbeville is wanted for Principle to 2nd Degree Murder and Obstruction of Justice. Guidry should be considered armed and extremely dangerous. Guidry’s last known location was in Abbeville and may still be in the area.

Vermilion Parish loses another musical icon; Warren Storm passes away at 84

Swamp pop musician Warren Storm died Tuesday at age 84, according to multiple sources, including KBON 101.1.
According to reports, Storm had been hospitalized since the middle of August
Storm is the second music icon from the parish to pass away within the past few days. Last week, Cedric Benoit, 62, a Kaplan native and a star in Branson, Missouri, suddenly passed away. Benoit performed at the Silver Dollar in Branson from 1988 to 2018.

LDH: Hurricane Ida storm-related death toll rises to 9

BATON ROUGE — The Louisiana Department of Health has confirmed 9 total storm-related deaths due to Hurricane Ida.
The storm-related deaths include:
3 individuals died of carbon monoxide poisoning in Jefferson Parish. No additional information about the victims is available at this time.
A 65-year-old female that drowned in floodwaters in Jefferson Parish.

‘Distance Learning’: North Vermilion High School students staying home this week to learn on their brand new Chromebooks

All public school students in Vermilion Parish will return to school on Wednesday, except for students at one high school.
North Vermilion High School students will be learning, but it will not be in a classroom. They will be at home, sitting in front of their brand new Chromebook computer. Each parish high school student and middle school student was loaned a $250 Chromebook laptop to be used whenever there is no school. In addition, the school district purchased 11,000 Chromebooks.
