On Nov. 4, detectives obtained warrants for Davion Markell Sneed and Javontae Veney for their roles in a homicide on November 3, 2020 in Abbeville.
Within 30 minutes of the public release of his information, Davion Sneed turned himself into the Abbeville Police Department and wanted to speak to detectives regarding the incident. Sneed was interviewed by detectives. Based on new evidence, including speaking to detectives, the Abbeville Police Department had the warrant for Mr. Sneed recalled. Sneed was released without charge.
At around 3:30 p.m,. officers of the Abbeville Police Department responded to the area of 411 Kibbe Street in reference to shots being fired in the area.
Upon the officer’s arrival, officers discovered a male victim laying on the ground in a nearby yard. The victim was identified by officers as a 16-year-old male juvenile from Abbeville. The juvenile was pronounced dead at the scene by the Vermilion Parish Coroner’s Office.

The SLCC Foundation is honoring a strong supporter of the community college and communities across Acadiana with its most prestigious award. The SLCC Foundation named Gulf Coast Bank its 2020 Benefactor of the Year through a small gathering at the bank’s home office on Nov. 2.
The College plans to recognize Gulf Coast Bank’s widespread impact throughout the Vermilion Parish and Acadiana communities during a ceremony later this year when it is deemed safe to gather.
There will be a runoff in Vermilion Parish for Judge in Division C of the 15th Judicial District.
Three candidates were vying for the open seat.
The two top vote-getters were Tommy Frederick, who received 40 percent or 9,875 votes. In second place and making the runoff is Ricky LaFleur, who had 36 percent or 9,041 votes.
Coming in third and not making the runoff is Andy Veazey, with 5,926 votes.
The runoff is set for Saturday, Dec. 5.
