When Holly LeBlanc walked into The LeBlanc Learning Center in Abbevlle the day after the hurricane, she saw major roof damage and stuff scattered all over.

Volunteers get it done

There is something special about living in South Louisiana. The people here love to help when someone is in need.
Holly Hebert LeBlanc is the owner of The LeBlanc Learning Center in Abbeville. The Center, which is just over 30 years old, sustained roof damage from the strong winds of Hurricane Delta Friday evening.
Almost half of the metal roof peeled off like the top of a sardine can. Hebert’s family traveled to Houston the day before to escape the strong winds.

Vermilion Parish Hurricane Reporting

The Vermilion Economic Development Alliance has made a very simple online form to help assess Vermilion's post-storm situation. VEDA is encouraging business owners to fill out the form whether they were affected by Hurricane Laura, Hurricane Delta, or both.
It can be accessed at: www.developvermilion.org/hurricanedamage
Business are encouraged to report not just physical damage, but any challenges caused by the storms.

Driver Killed in Late Afternoon Crash in Iberia Parish

NEW IBERIA – Shortly before 5:00 p.m. on October 12, 2020, Louisiana State Police Troop I was notified of a two-vehicle crash on LA Highway 674 at Blanchard Road in Iberia Parish.
The crash took the life of 58-year-old Somvang Sinsayarath of New Iberia.
The initial investigation by State Police revealed Sinsayarath was driving a 2019 Honda Fit east on LA 674 when she failed to negotiate a curve. She lost control of her vehicle which then crossed the center line and continued into the path of a westbound 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe.

Abbeville family lucky 100-year-old oak tree falls on road

Jimmy Arnauld and his family loved the idea of living in the historical district in Abbeville, near the Vermilion River. They also loved living in an old home, surrounded by 100-year-old oak trees. Three weeks into their new rental home on Fairview Street, they may be having second thoughts about living near large trees.
