I, Mike “MJ” Landry, am seeking election to the Vermilion Parish Police Jury in District 12.
I have been a resident of Kaplan and District 12 for more than 30 years.
I attended Indian Bayou and Kaplan High School.
I have 12 years of law enforcement experience. I have 15 years of experience with Baroid.
I am married to Tony Istre Landry. We have six children.
My goal is to improve water drainage, roads, trash service and to make our parish better.

FORMER ARCHBISHOP HARRY FLYNN DIES

Catholics in Acadiana are mourning the loss of Archbishop Emeritus Harry J. Flynn, former Bishop of the Diocese of Lafayette, who passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019. The late Archbishop Flynn, who was most recently Archbishop Emeritus of the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis in Minnesota, served as Bishop of the Diocese of Lafayette from 1989-1994. Bishop Flynn came to Lafayette from the Albany, New York diocese of which he was a native.

Segura Stadium Friday evening. Erath’s 70th Homecoming Queen will be announced at the game.
The game against Morgan City starts at 7 p.m.

ANALYSIS: Third-party watch underway in insurance race

In a statewide race that’s drawing very little coverage from the mainstream press, Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon appears to maintain a traditional incumbent's edge over challenger Tim Temple, whose most recent television commercials are nonetheless capturing the attention of Louisiana's politicos.
A DeRidder native, Temple is the president of Temptan and his father was a founder of Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Corporation. As of last month he had $855,000 in the bank, and has thus far invested $1.1 million in personal money in his campaign.
