7 departments respond to early morning fire in Abbeville

Multiple fire departments responded to a blaze at a home in Abbeville early on Labor Day morning.
Shortly after midnight on Labor Day morning, the Abbeville Fire Department received a phone call at the Main Station reporting a house on fire at 701 Clover St.
The Abbeville Fire Department, the Erath Volunteer Fire Department, the 7th Ward Volunteer Fire Department, and the Henry Volunteer Fire Department arrived to find a two-story home with fire already burning on both floors.
“Due to the size of the home and the high temperatures,” Abbeville Fire Chief Doris Langlinais said, “even at night, a second alarm was required, bringing additional assistance.
After the second call, the Maurice Volunteer Fire Department, the Meaux/Nunez Volunteer Fire Department, and LeBlanc Volunteer Fire Departments responded.
