John “Keno” Mouton

ABBEVILLE — Memorial Services for Mr. John “Keno” Mouton, 82, will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2022 with Fr. Louis Richard officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church from 12 p.m. until time of services.
A resident of Abbeville, Keno passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022.
He served in the U.S Army 58th Infantry Riffle Battalion.
He was a Louisiana State Police officer for eighteen and a half years, Chief Homicide Detective for seventeen Parishes, Chief of Security for Governor-five years, and Lt. Governor-one year.
He was also the Abbeville Recreation Center Assistant Director who initiated Adult Softball League and built the Comeaux Park field.
He coached American Legion, Little League, and Biddy Basketball.
He also taught History and Civics at Mt. Carmel as well as coached High Girls Basketball.
Keno was a scratch golfer, music lover, dominoes player and sports fanatic.
He is survived by his daughter, Angela Mouton Hebert of Abbeville; his grandchildren, Brooke Mouton, Brittany H. Franklin and her husband Bobby, Mark Hebert; his great grandchildren, Allie Mouton, Carson Hebert, Cay’lee Kallies, and soon to be born, Baby Franklin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jules Mouton and Eula Romero Mouton; and his son, Mark Steven Mouton.
