Lafitte Drive-In Park, including the new fishing pier, is once again open to the public.
Abbeville announces reopening of Lafitte Drive-In Park, new fishing pier ready for use
After a few months of being closed for improvements, including construction of the new fishing pier, Lafitte Drive-In Park is once again open to the public.
The city of Abbeville reopened the park, located at 117 N. John Hardy Dr. on Thursday morning.
Current hours of operation are daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The walking trail, fishing pond and fishing pier with the new enhanced accessibility features will be available during these hours.
Late last year, the park closed during the construction of the new fishing pier.
One change that should be noted when heading back to the park is that a designated area for the dog park has not yet been set. The previous fenced-in area for the dog park was removed to make way for the pier. In the meantime, dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash at all times. City officials also ask that those who bring dogs properly dispose of waste.
