Meyers breaks 28-year-old record in women’s javelin

AUSTIN, Texas – Senior Claire Meyers, a 2016 North Vermilion graduate, broke a 28-year-old Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun Track and Field record in the 93rd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Thursday at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Meyers claimed the individual title in the B section of the women’s javelin after she threw 163-feet, 9 inches on her second attempt eclipsed the Ragin’ Cajuns school record of 160-1 set by Dorsey Steamer in 1993.
Before the meet began, Meyers said she had a feeling it was going to be a good day. She did not think it was going to be a great day.

17-run fourth powers Delcambre Panthers past Abbeville

The Delcambre Panthers knocked in 17 runs in the fourth inning on their way to a 21-1 victory over the Abbeville Wildcats on Monday at Theriot Field in Abbeville.
It was a close game for the first three innings.
Delcambre scored two runs in the first inning, two runs in the second inning and then was retired 1-2-3 in the top of the third frame to make it a 4-0 game heading into the top of the fourth inning.
The Panthers had 20 at-bats in the fourth frame. Delcambre managed only four hits in the inning, but they took advantage of three AHS errors.

North Vermilion Patriots crush LaGrange for 12th straight win

The wind was blowing out of Patriot Field which meant only one thing, the baseballs had great chance to fly out of the park.
Against LaGrange, in a district opener, North Vermilion cruised to a 21-1 win.
North Vermilion (14-2) is now on a 12-game winning streak and ranked at No. 4 in the Class 4A power ranking.
NV has scored 60 runs in its last four games.
In the five-inning game on Monday, three Patriots smashed home runs.
Tyson LeBlanc, Dale Martin and Dylan Naquin each had a home run.
Martin knocked in four runs and LeBlanc had three.

North Vermilion’s Ethan Guidry was named the Outstanding Performer at the René Trahan Memorial Track and Meet on Friday. Guidry won the long jump (20-7) and was second in the 100 meter dash.
