Erath, Kaplan, NV cruise to easy first round wins

KAPLAN - The Kaplan Lady Pirates scored 14 runs in the first inning against Avoyelles in the Class 3A first round playoff game on Thursday.
When the game was over, after only three innings, the Lady Pirates won 18-0 with the help of 15 hits.
The Lady Pirates are back in action on Tuesday for a second round game against No. 12 Pine Praire. The game starts at 6 p.m.
Pine Praire sports a 19-11 record. Earlier in the year they lost to North Vermilion 7-6.
The winner of that game plays the winner of the No. 4 Crowley/No. 20 Church Point game later this week.

Erath Bobcats have now won seven straight

The Erath Bobcats have now won seven straight games after sweeping Abbeville.
The Bobcats improved to 23-4 overall and 9-1 in district.
They are also ranked No. 3 in the Class 3A power rankings.
Erath steps out of district on Monday to battle VC. Then they close out district this week with games against Kaplan.

Two males on New Orleans Saints Dance Team are from Vermilion Parish

As of Friday night, there are now three male dancers and 29 female dancers on the 2019 Saintsation’ New Orleans Dance Team. Did you know that two out of the three males are from Vermilion Parish?
Jesse Hernandez, a North Vermilion graduate, made history last year by being the first male to make the Saints’ Dance Team. He had to try out again this year, and on Friday, he learned that he made the team, again.

North Vermilion's LeBlanc new queen of hurdles

Anna LeBlanc, a junior at North Vermilion, is not afraid of a challenge. She thrives on it.
Last year when Abbeville and Erath had runners in the 100-meter hurdles, she knew she would probably never win because they were better hurdlers. Last track season she competed against Anne Marie Broussard of Abbeville and Troynae Walker of Erath, who were seniors that could fly over the hurdles. In all of those races, LeBlanc had to settle for third place.

North Vermilion Track Meet to be held in Abbeville

The North Vermilion Patriot Relays will be held at Bill Gooch Track Complex at J.H. Williams Middle School in Abbeville.
Because work is being done on North Vermilion’s track, the meet had to be moved.
There will be 15 teams competing in the meet.
The field event begins at 3 p.m., and the running starts at 6 p.m.
Competing in the meet will be North Vermilion, Erath, Delcambre, Kaplan, Gueydan, VC, Abbeville, Church Point, Crowley, Notre Dame, Teurlings, Southside, ESA, Ascension Episcopal, and Breaux Bridge.
