Vermilion Catholic wins state baseball title!

SULPHUR – The No. 2 Vermilion Catholic Eagles defeated the No. 12 Ouachita Christian Eagles 4-1 on Wednesday to claim the 2025 Division IV Select state championship.  
This is the first state title in baseball in school history. 
VC Head Baseball Coach Ben Harrington knew from the beginning that this team would accomplish great things.
“We knew long ago that this team was special,” Harrington said.  “The way you determine if a team is special is if they like each other.  Do they love each other?  Do they play for each other?

VC defeats Riverside to advance to championship game

SULPHUR – The No. 2 Vermilion Catholic Eagles came from behind twice to defeat the No. 11 Riverside Academy Rebels 9-8 in the Division IV Select semifinals at McMurry Park.

The Eagles (24-7) fell behind 4-1 and 6-3 before storming back in a four-run fifth inning to claim a 7-6 lead. Riverside scored twice in the sixth to go back on top 8-7 before VC answered two more times in the bottom of the inning to retake the lead for good.

Vermilion Catholic wins state golf title

The Vermilion Catholic boys’ golf team won the Division IV state title on Tuesday, winning by only three strokes.
The two-day state tournament took place at Cane Row in New Iberia. VC led after the first day and successfully held off Westminster Christian on the second day. The Eagles finished with a team score of 517, while Westminster scored 520. The teams completed 18 holes on the first day; however, they could play only nine holes due to inclement weather on the second day.
Cedar Creek had the low individual scorer, with  Alex Roebuck shooting a plus-one.

Vermilion Catholic's Hagle district Co-MVP; Guidry coach of the year

Head coach Kim Guidry went out in style, coaching her final sport at Vermilion Catholic. 
Guidry was named the Coach of the Year in District 6-1A after helping lead the Lady Eagles to a 3-0 district record.
The Lady Eagles had six players land on the first team, including Co-MVP honors.
VC’s Jenna Beth Hagle, a senior, was named the district co-MVP. She shared the honor with Highland’s Addisen Yate and Mia Sisco of Westminster of Lafayette.
Hagle was the pitcher for VC. At the plate, she batted .555.
