Vermilion Catholic starts off well against CHS, but can’t sustain it

Vermilion Catholic had the best start possible against Catholic High Friday night.
On the Panthers’ first possession of the game, Vermilion Catholic blocked a punt, and Travin Moore recovered it in the endzone for a touchdown and a quick 6-0 lead.
Even the missed extra-point after wasn’t too much of a letdown for the Eagles against the Panthers.
“Great job by our kids coming out on fire and making a big play early and getting that touchdown for us,” VC coach Broc Prejean said.

Abbeville’s Tahj Judge and the Wildcats open the season tonight on the road.

Playing in Turpin Stadium

Today, the Abbeville Wildcats are traveling north to play a team maybe for the first time in the school’s history. The Wildcats are opening the season to battle St. Mary’s Tigers, a Class 1A school located in Nachitoches.
How and why did this arrangement take place between the two coaches?
AHS head coach Roderick Moy has a simple answer to those two questions.
He wants his team to get a chance to play in a college football stadium, in hopes college coaches will be in attendance.

Ready to Jam at Jamborees

If last week was the “joint practices” or scrimmages as they are more commonly known, this week’s jamborees are more like “dress rehearsals” for the 2021 prep football season.
For the most part, the jamborees will consist of two 12 minute halves of football, usually running time, and there will be no coaches on the field watching every play.
As Abbeville coach Roderick Moy put it, half a football game, teams put the finishing touches in preparation for the prep football season, which begins next week.
