Wedding moved up in order to compete in Olympic Trials

It is not every day you have to move your wedding up a couple of weeks because there is a good chance you were going to make the Olympic Trials, which was the same weekend as the first wedding date.
But that is what Claire Meyers Armstrong had to do recently.
Claire Meyers Armstrong and Caleb Armstrong moved their marriage date up to June 5 because the original date of June 25 was the same date of the javelin competition for the Olympic Trials in Oregon.

Kaplan pitcher Carina Chargois

Kaplan pitcher lands on Class 3A All-State Team

Kaplan senior pitcher Carina Chargois ended her four-year high school career by making the Class 3A All-State Team.
Chargois went 17-4 (counting playoffs) and led the Lady Pirates to a district title. She was one of four pitchers to make the All-State first team. Chargois also batted .300.
The Lady Pirates also had three girls make the honorable mention all-state team. They are Kennedy Marceaux, Lauryn Packard and Molly Sistrunk.
Marceaux finished the season with a .660 batting average. Sistrunk hit for a .441 average and Packard hit for .352 average.

Picard returns as Erath High head baseball coach

ERATH — Jeremy Picard has returned as the head baseball coach at Erath High School.
Erath Principal Marc Turner made the announcement this week that the school rehired Picard.
Turner said, “We are very proud to have Coach Picard return to EHS baseball. He has a good rapport with the players and is highly regarded statewide in the baseball arena.”

North Vermilion wins Class 4A State Baseball Title

Move over 1994 State Championship Trophy because you now have company.
For the last 27 years, the North Vermilion Class 2A State Championship baseball trophy stood alone in the trophy case at NVHS. No longer. It now has to share the case with a Class 4A State Championship trophy won by the 2021 Patriots baseball team.
The No. 3 seeded Patriots upset No. 1 seeded Tioga Indians 5-3 in the Class 4A finals on Saturday.
The 1994 Patriots were the last team from Vermilion Parish to win a state baseball title until Saturday night.

NV wins wild one: Carters’s walk-off hit propels Pats to title game

Down by five runs with two outs, the North Vermilion Patriots somehow managed to find a way to win in the bottom of the eighth inning in the Class 4A semifinals.
The Patriots were down 10-5 with two outs. No one panicked. Instead they got back to back to back singles by Brandt Fontenot, Dylan Naquin and Jordan Blanchard to load the bases.
Cooper David hit a Two-RBI single to make it 10-7. Two more runs scored on a South Terrebonne error to make it 10-9.
Lane Patin had the game tying RBI with a double.
