Vermilion Parish Student of the Year: Kaplan High’s Wise driven by service

KAPLAN — Coeyn Wise doesn’t give himself too much downtime in a good way.
That’s one of the things about Wise, a senior at Kaplan High, that helped propel him to Vermilion Parish High School Student of the Year. The Vermilion Parish School System made the announcement late last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Devoltz of Kaplan, LA are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Jasmine Devoltz of Kaplan, LA to Mr. Tyler Mouton of Kaplan, LA. The wedding ceremony will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville, LA.
Jasmine is a 2015 graduate of Kaplan High School. Jasmine earned her Associate of Science degree in Nursing from Louisiana State University at Eunice in May 2024. She is currently employed by Ochsner Lafayette General Orthopedic Hospital.

Miss Parrish Christian Vienne & Mr. Louis Patrick Mire United in Marriage

Parrish Christian Vienne and Louis Patrick Mire were married during a Saturday, October 26 ceremony at Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville. The Very Reverend Father William Blanda officiated the 6 p.m. nuptials.
Parrish is the daughter of Amanda and David Beverly of Abbeville and the late Benjamin Vienne of Abbeville. She is the granddaughter of RoseAnna and Michael Trahan of Abbeville and Mona and Keith Vienne of Rayne.

2024 Erath High Homecoming Grand Marshal

Imagine a child strolling into a 1st-grade classroom and then sixty-one years later, you can still see that person walking the halls of that same school as an active participant. It is a feat not many (if any) can claim. Though roles shifted from student to teacher through the years, In Erath, Nellie Broussard is that rare example.
As a 1st grader many years ago, she began her journey at Erath High, which housed grades 1-12 at that time. (PreK and Kindergarten didn’t exist in public schools until much later.)

Dozier Elementary 2024 Homecoming Crown Bearer and Flower Girl

Each year Dozier Elementary randomly chooses one boy and one girl from the first-grade class to represent our school as the EHS Homecoming Crown Bearer and Flower Girl. On Friday, September 27, 2024, a drawing took place with the first-grade students and teachers.
The 2024 Erath High Homecoming Crown Bearer and Flower Girl are Sawyer Stal and Caroline Lee. This duo will represent Dozier Elementary at the Erath Homecoming festivities and game on October 18, 2024!
Caroline is the daughter of Steven and Lauren Lee, and Sawyer is the son of Ian and Amy Stal.
