Isabella Choate

Isabella Choate named Jr. Parade Marshal for Cattle Festival

The Louisiana Cattle Festival announced that the 2024 Junior Parade Marshal is Isabella Rose Choate.
Isabella is the daughter of Johnny and Olivia Choate of community of Theall, Louisiana and older sister to Charlie. She is currently a 7th grader at Forked Island E. Broussard Elementary.
Isabella raises Dairy and Braford Base cattle. She has been a member of the Vermilion Parish 4-H Club for three years which she participates actively in various contests and projects such as the Beef, Dairy, Horse, and Sewing projects.

Longtime member Denise Mire to be inducted into Cattle Festival Hall of Fame

Denise Mire’s significant contributions to the Louisiana Cattle Festival will be honored as she is inducted into the prestigious Louisiana Cattle Festival Hall of Fame in 2024.
“It is with great honor that the Louisiana Cattle Festival announces our esteemed honorees for the 74th LA Cattle Festival,” Cattle Festival President Karen Guilbeau said. “We are very pleased to introduce our 2024 Hall of Fame, Denise Mire.”
The 74th Annual Cattle Festival will be held in Abbeville on Oct. 4-6.

‘Meet the Artist’ with Kathy Lejeune set for Wednesday in Abbeville

There will be an opportunity this coming Wednesday to “Meet the Artist.”
Kathy Lejeune will be present and her work will be on display from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Abbeville Cultural Center this Wednesday, Sept. 25. The Abbeville Cultural Center is located at 200 N. Magdalen Square. Live music will be performed by Blake Luquette.
The event is being organized by the Vermilion Arts Council.

Easy! Easy! Easy!

TAQUITO ENCHILADA CASSEROLE

I decided Tuesday afternoon, after reading the recipe below, to use the box of frozen taquitos taking up valuable real estate in my freezer. I had no idea what to do with that frozen foreign food. This recipe led me in the right direction.

INGREDIENTS

-Delimex Frozen Taquitos*
-1 can Old El Paso Enchilada sauce**
-2 cups shredded cheese***
-Baking pan to fit the amount of taquitos you will use
