Alvin Wiltz

Man wanted in connection to Abbeville shooting has turned himself in

On March 19, 2019 Alvin Wiltz (A.K.A. Gator) turned himself in at the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center. Mr. Wiltz was wanted by the Abbeville Police Department after a shooting which occurred on March 12, 2019 near the intersection of N. Bailey Street and Clover Street.
Mr. Wiltz was booked on a warrant for Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. Mr. Wiltz’s bond has been set at $250,000.00.
Additional charges against Mr. Wiltz are anticipated.

AgCenter ribbon officially cut in Abbeville

On Thursday morning, Vermilion Parish officials cut the ribbon on the new LSU AgCenter Extension office building in Abbeville, more than two-and-a-half years after the old building became a casualty of historic flooding.
AgCenter agents have been operating out of the building, located on West Port Street, after moving in a few weeks ago. Vermilion Parish 4-H is also centralized in the building.
“We are enjoying this building,” LSU AgCenter agent Andrew Granger said. “It’s going to be great for the people of Vermilion Parish.”

Our Lady Of Lourdes in Erath prepares for St. Joseph Altar; Meet Audrey Bouillion

ERATH — The seventh annual St. Joseph Altar at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath will be held next weekend at Pope John Paul II Parish Hall.
The church hall is located at 700 South Broadway Street. Fr. Andre Metrejean, Pastor, will have the blessing of the altar on Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Speeding leads to DWI arrest in Abbeville

On March 9, 2019 at approximately 5:40 p.m. patrol officers of the Abbeville Police Department clocked a vehicle doing 75 mph in a 45 mph zone.
The officer activated his lights and siren and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
The vehicle refused to stop, traveling east on LA Hwy. 14 (Veterans Memorial Dr.). The vehicle then performed an illegal U-Turn and attempted to evade
officers. The vehicle was forced to stop due to the construction zone near Shop Rite. The driver was arrested and transported to the Abbeville Police Department.

Abbeville Police searching for suspect after Tuesday afternoon shooting; considered armed and dangerous

On March 12, 2019, at approximately 1:30 p.m. officers with the Abbeville Police Department responded to a shooting call at the intersection of N. Bailey Street and Clover Street.
A preliminary investigation has concluded that the victim and a female subject were having a verbal argument at a residence near that intersection. Soon thereafter, several males got involved, and a physical altercation started between the victim and the suspect.
