Abbeville approves new contract with QSA

Quality Sports Authority (QSA) will continue its working relationship with the City of Abbeville.
The organization has handled youth sports in the city for the past three years, after initially signing a three-year contract in 2017.
The Abbeville City Council voted 4-1 during its regular meeting Tuesday night to approve the renewal of QSA’s contract. Councilwoman Terry Broussard voted against.

Eunice Man Arrested for Possession of Pornography Involving Juveniles

EUNICE – A Eunice man was arrested today for possessing and sharing child sexual abuse images.
Earlier this year, Troopers assigned to the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit began an investigation into the distribution of child pornography. The suspect, 41-year-old Kevin D. Briscoe of Eunice, Louisiana, shared illicit images of children with investigators that were acting in an undercover capacity.

Vermilion Parish Mayors address chamber members about state of their municipalities during Chamber event

The Vermilion Parish Chamber of Commerce held the “State of Vermilion” at Southern Oaks in Abbeville and four mayors got to educate chamber members of what is happening in their cities.
The mayors on hand were Abbeville Mayor Mark Piazza, Delcambre Mayor Pam Blakely, Gueydan Mayor Jude Reese, and Maurice Mayor Wayne Theriot.
Erath Mayor Taylor Mencacci was unable to attend because of work, while Kaplan Mayor Mike Kloesel also did not participate due to illness.

Ricky LaFleur announces candidacy for District Judge in Vermilion Parish

ABBEVILLE, LA – Gathered with family, friends and supporters in downtown Abbeville Thursday, attorney Ricky LaFleur announced his candidacy for judge in the 15th Judicial District, Division C to give Vermilion Parish a court system that is efficient, fair, transparent and accountable, and most of all, that truly delivers justice for its citizens.
LaFleur, an attorney with 27 years of experience representing families, local businesses and communities across Vermilion Parish, will be on the ballot for the election to be held November 3, 2020.
