Parish students on LSU President’s Honor Roll, Dean’s List

BATON ROUGE – LSU has announced the names of the students who have made the Dean’s List and the President’s Honor Roll for the spring 2019 semester.
Undergraduate students enrolled in at least 15 credit hours who earned grade-point averages of 4.0 or higher during the semester are listed on the President’s Honor Roll. Undergraduate students who earned grade-point averages of 3.5 to 3.99 in at least 15 credit hours are listed on the Dean’s List.

Next month will mark five years since Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Allen Bares Jr. gave his life in the line of duty.
He is not forgotten, as Bares remains forever in the hearts and minds of his family, friends and those with whom he served. Many of the people who hold a special place for Bares gathered Monday morning at the Sheriff’s Office training center to dedicate a place for him.

Vermilion Parish will discuss superintendent’s salary, four-day school week and new charter school

It looks like tonight’s school board meeting could be another long one.
Lately, it is not common for Vermilion Parish School Board Meetings to last three hours or until about 9 p.m. Tonight’s meeting is expected to last at least two hours based on the agenda items.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. and the public is invited to attend.
There will be a discussion about the school board looking into the school district going to a four-day work week (Tuesday through Friday) as a way to save the district money.

Wreck at Tractor Supply in Eunice

EUNICE — A Jeep left the Murphy gas station on front of Walmart Tuesday afternoon, ran across U.S. 190 and came to rest upside down in the potted soil in front of Tractor Supply. One person was removed from the Jeep. A Eunice Police officer said there was no other injuries. (Photo by Harlan Kirgan)
