Erath’s Fourroux lands on McNeese’s All-75th Anniversary Football Team

In conjunction with that, McNeese Athletics will be releasing its All-75th Anniversary Team that will be broken down by positions beginning with quarterbacks.
The criteria for being named to the team includes the following: being a member of the McNeese Sports Hall of Fame, named an All-American, and earned first team all-conference honors two or more years.
A total of seven athletes make up the 75th Anniversary All-Quarterback team, ranging from the early 1950s to the new millennium.
In chronological order, the list begins with Lester Landry (1951-52).

Lawley calling plays in Erath

ERATH - With the departure of head coach David Comeaux, Erath High had to go searching for a new offensive coordinator.
They found their man.
Calling the offensive plays this year for the Bobcats will be Brandon Lawley, who was the head coach at Walker High School near Baton Rouge for the last two years.
Before he arrived, Walker High posted a 0-10 season. Two years later, Walker went 7-4 in Class 5A and reached the playoffs for the first time in years. It was their first winning season since 2003.

New Cajuns head coach has plans for former Erath running back when he is healthy

NEW ORLEANS – Elijah Mitchell has barely scratched the surface of how good he can be.
The Erath High product gave fans and coaches a peek at that potential – a tease frame, more than a freeze frame – during UL’s 2017 season.
But a foot injury against Idaho put Mitchell on the shelf for half of the season and all of spring drills, robbing him of a chance to impress new coach Billy Napier and his staff on the field.
Not to worry. Napier has plans for Mitchell as soon as he gets healthy.

North Vermilion 10s gearing Up For Road Trip

Next week the North Vermilion 10-year old All-Stars are taking their 10-game winning streak on the road to compete in the Mustang South Zone Tournament in Deer Park, Texas.
The squad leaves Wednesday and will play two pool play games. The first game is a week from today and then again on July 27.
North Vermilion will open the tournament playing Loredo, Texas at 9 a.m.
The next pool play game will be against Houston Meadow Place.
After the two pool play games, each team will be seeded.

The North Vermilion Youth Association 9-10 year old All-Stars captured the Mustang Super Region Tournament early Friday morning in Abbeville. NV beat SLYSI of Lafayette 17-14 . The game began at 9 p.m. on Thursday and ended Friday, just after midnight. The all-stars will be traveling to Deer Park, Texas on July 25 to compete in the PONY Zone tournament. Super Region Champions: North Vermilion Gets It Done

Good things come to those who wait.
The 10-year-old North Vermilion All-Stars have waited three years for this to happen.
Early Friday morning, at around 12:02 a.m., the North Vermilion All-Stars were celebrating their 17-14 victory over SLYSI of Lafayette. The game began Thursday at about 9 p.m. and ended just after midnight.
With the win, they have qualified to play in Deer Park, Texas for the next round. The tournament begins on July 25.
Last year, with most of the same boys, the club finished third in the same tourney.
