Suire gunning for Erath school records

Erath High’s Ethan Suire is on a mission to break a couple of school records that has avoided him for four years.
Suire is a distance runner for the Bobcats, who wants to break the school record in the 800-meter run and the 1,600-meter run.
Brennan Bernard owns the EHS 800-meter record at 1:57.71 set in 2001. Cody Bouillion owns the school record of 2:23.73 in the 1600 set in 2005.
With the school records on his mind, Suire took his running to the next level by running at larger meets.

Jay Demouchet has great ball handling skills for VC.

VC's Demouchet MVP in Vermilion

Vermilion Catholic point guard Jay Demouchet may only be five feet tall, but she plays a lot taller than that.
Her great ball handling skills, coupled with her ability to shoot the rock, earned her the Vermilion Parish’s Player of the Year Award.
As the point guard, she took over the team towards the end of the season and dominated. She orchestrated her team past two opponents in the Division IV playoffs, reaching the semifinals for the second year in a row.
When it was over, Demouchet averaged 18 points and nine assists a game.

North Vermilion's Criner MVP in Vermilion

North Vermilion High seems to have a knack for turning out good basketball players in Vermilion Parish.
This past basketball season is no exception.
For five straight years, the Abbeville Meridional’s Basketball Player of the Year has worn a North Vermilion uniform.
Well, why stop now? For the sixth year in a row, a Patriot is the Meridional’s 2018 Male Basketball Player of the Year.
Junior Malik Criner, who led the Patriots in almost every category, was named the top player in the parish.

Abbeville Wildcats come from behind to beat Kaplan

The 8-9 Abbeville Wildcats snatched the lead late in the game in an 11-10 victory over Kaplan on Tuesday.
Abbeville was behind 7-1 in the sixth inning.
The game was tied at ten with Abbeville batting in the top of the ninth when Kyle Choate singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring Josiah Chambers for the win.
Hunter Duhon led Abbeville to victory by driving in four runs. He went 3-for-4 at the plate. Duhon drove in runs on a grand slam in the sixth inning.

Kaplan softball beats the Erath Lady Bobcats

ERATH - The Kaplan Lady Pirates managed to hold off a late charge by the Erath Lady Bobcats on Tuesday.
Kaplan won the district game 4-3.
Erath knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the third inning. Erath’s Carrington Neveaux doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.
North Vermilion pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth, Kylie Naomi doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run and Abigail Lopez singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
