In the late night of May 22, 2021 at 11:40 p.m., God called home His beloved daughter Marcy Marie Collins. God has taken her home; she has reached her final destination. Although she fought a good fight, her body could not keep up with her spirit.
Marcy M. Collins began her life on June 16, 1958 in Lafayette, LA to the proud parents of Jarious Jr. and Maudry Mingo, to which this union birthed six children. She was a proud graduate of Kaplan High School where she made fond memories. At the age of 17, she met the love of her life Harold Collins. They were united in holy matrimony on September 4, 1976. To that union, they bore two children: one girl and one boy. Marcy stood strong in the Lord as she knew him to be her healer and comforter. She was an active member of Saint Theresa Catholic Church and would often attend services at Shiloh Baptist Church and Mt Triumph Baptist Church with her beloved husband Harold. Marcy loved and lived for her children and grandchildren. She made sure they knew God; she would faithfully be on the weekly prayer call with her family. She was an active member of the Broken But Not Forgotten Ministry as she contributed her time, love, and support to all the women in the ministry. She faithfully participated in the cancer survivor walks and was an inspiration to other survivors. She received several awards honoring her steadfast and unmovable fight for cancer as she battled for 26 years. Her attractive smile and meek spirit attracted her to so many and everyone she met became a friend and was eventually called family. Marcy expressed her love to others through her baking and cooking. She spent countless hours sharing her favorite recipes and showing family/friends how to cook and bar-be-que. Her bananas cakes will be missed, not to mention her cabbage and the list goes on and on. Her favorite hobbies were spending time with family and attending bingo. She always said, “she was going to work.” Every time she won, she would give to her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren, then tell them “Don’t tell their mom.” She was the epitome of the gift that kept on giving.” Marcy leaves to continue her legacy her loving husband of 43 years Harold: two children, Aisha Collins, Joshua Collins, and daughter-in-law Jill. Her grandchildren; Kaiden Jefferson, Hannah Jefferson, Madison Trahan, Mason Collins. One brother Jarvis Paul Mingo. Wilma Dell Thibeaux Green

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. for Wilma Dell Thibeaux Green at Macedonia Baptist Church in Abbeville, Louisiana. A private family viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m. Visitors will be received beginning at 9:30 a.m. with services starting at 10:00 a.m. Internment will be at St. Paul Cemetery at 515 Jacqulyn St., Abbeville, La. Darrell Thibeaux will officiate the service.
Wilma Dell Thibeaux Green went home to her Lord and Savior at 9:32 p.m. on June 2, 2021 at the blessed age of 83. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her earthly departure. She was a beautiful soul and her absence has shifted our family’s world. As her earthly family, we mourn her dearly. But as her family in Christ, we rejoice because we know she is no longer suffering and she is at peace.
She was born in Abbeville, Louisiana to Ernest Thibeaux and Syrila Joiner Thibeaux on October 19, 1937. At an early age she accepted Christ as her Savior. She often told us kids about the joy she felt every time she attended prayer service with her grandmother. As an adult, she continued her love of worship with her mother and her children.
She was a student of Abbeville Training School and James A. Herod and she worked for the Abbeville Head Start program for over 15 years. She loved to work. Be it in the house or the yard, you would always find her keeping busy. She worked until she could work no more.
She was employed at several jobs over the course of her life, but her most rewarding job was that of mother and grandmother.
Our mother was a woman of God who found joy in rearing her children. She found even more joy and fulfillment in caring for her grandchildren. As the matriarch of our large family, she was the driving force of countless family gatherings. Those were the times that brought the most light, love, and happiness to her.
She was many things to many people. She was a daughter, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, an aunt, and a friend.
She will be greatly missed by those left to cherish the memories they made together. She is survived by her children, Phyllis Green, Kathy Rice, Regina Briscoe, Joan Miller (Charles), Toynette LeDay (Murphy), and Tracey Irvine (Troy); her siblings, Helen Perry and Claude Thibeaux (Linda); her forever sons-in-law, Ronald Briscoe and Gerald Wiltz; and her grandkids, Shawn Broussard, Greg Broussard, Dexter George, Scarlett Brown, Deshawn Green, Dion Green, Brian Briscoe, Summer Allen, Joseph Allen, Jr., Carly LeDay, Kaman LeDay, and Bailee Irvine. She also leaves to cherish sweet memories a host of great grandkids, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Heaven rejoices as she reunites with loved ones who previously passed on to be with the Lord. They include her baby boy Joseph Green, Jr. and her daughter, Debra Wiltz; her parents, Ernest and Syrila Thibeaux; her husband of 35 years, Joseph Green, Sr.; her brothers, Herman, Alfred, and Ezekiel Thibeaux; her sisters, Hilda Shelvin, Clementine Thibeaux, and Betty Grogan; her grandkids, Courtney Briscoe and Dwight Brown; her sons-in-law, Joseph Allen, Sr. and Brian Irvine; her best friend, Mary Ann Campbell and many more family members and friends.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to Kinchen Funeral Home. On behalf of our dear mother, we would like to thank everyone who had a part in supporting us during our time of need. Thanks to Bridgeway Hospice for sending us such amazing nurses and staff. A special thank you goes to Nurse Gail for the dedication and love she showed our mom and Nurse Crystal for being there with us during Mom’s final hours.
