Duhon, Vice named Shelby Cormier Memorial Scholarship recipients

ERATH — Jessica Duhon and MaKayla Vice have been named as the recipients of the 2025 Shelby Cormier Memorial Scholarship.
Duhon and Vice are both seniors at Erath High School.
The award is named in honor of Shelby Cormier, who along with his wife, Betty, founded the Erath Softball League in 1971. Betty Cormier created the Shelby Cormier Memorial Scholarship after her husband passed away in 2002.

Erath's Bradford wins Louisiana Sheriff’s Scholarship

Upon the recommendation of the Vermilion Parish School Board, Vermilion Parish Sheriff Eddie Langlinais announces scholarship recipient of the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Honorary Membership Program
Sheriff Langlinais is happy to announce Andrew Bradford of Erath High has been named the recipient of an academic scholarship from the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Scholarship Program for the 2024-2025 school year.
Andrew resides in Erath and plans to attend UL Lafayette and pursue mechanical engineering as a field of study. His parents are Nicholas Bradford and Ashlee Girard.

Trahan receives Chester Broussard Memorial Scholarship

Next month, Felicia Trahan will graduate as a registered nurse from South Louisiana Community College (SoLAcc).
Trahan, a Kaplan resident and native of Gueydan, has worked as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) for the past eight years. She is the mother of two teenage girls, 16 and 14, whose husband works offshore.
“Life is definitely hectic,” Trahan told members of the Rotary Club of Abbeville. “I’m working to finish up nursing school.”
