Sunflowers For St. Jude brings many visitors to Romaine Road

While the most recent blooming fields of yellow that make up Sunflowers For St. Jude have faded, the future for the local fundraising effort certainly remains bright.
This marks year eight of the Romaine family using their fields to raise funds to go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. The fields are located on Romaine Road in Kaplan.

Baking is on my mind lately, and I really miss my baking station has at the far house. It has an electric oven under the gas cooktop and a separate electric oven around the corner from the range.
Real chefs cook with gas and bake in electric ovens. I was in bakers heaven. That duel fuel range is amazing.

Mise En Place, Again

Last July an article explained my new favorite French term, “mise en place.”
It means putting in place or gathering, which is exactly the point I wanted to get across. Multitasking has always been a characteristic of mine. Maybe being younger and staying at home with three children allowed me to get away with letting this become a major habit.
But long ago, trying to do more than one thing at a time caught up with me.
