One Bowl Casserole

I never much thought about casseroles until my children got old enough to eat on their own or ask for a casserole recipe they had enjoyed when visiting friends. We did not have casseroles when I was growing up. We didn’t use the oven except for cornbread and the occasional cake. My dad did not like ground meat, and he thought that ovens were invented by a cave woman who did not like standing over an open flame.

Dozier Elementary’s Bucket Fillers

This year, Dozier Elementary hosted a new program spearheaded by counselor Kayla Robles. Each Friday, “Bucket Fillers” were recognized on their school Facebook page. It represented those who went out of their way to spread kindness to others that week. Though a few were missing, this group of students were named in the final group of Bucket Fillers for the 2023-2024 year. Mrs. Kayla shared these words. “Your positive contributions are making a difference, and your efforts are truly commendable. Keep spreading kindness and filling those buckets all summer long!”

Rest and Recuperation At The Beach

Yes, it’s that week again. Six of us in a lovely condominium at Perdido Key.
I’ve had four sunny, breezy days on a beach chair with an umbrella. I don’t go out in direct sun, but I am now tan-ish. We drove in Sunday, May 26, and had junk food for dinner since we had a very filling lunch at Half-Shell in Gulf Port, Mississippi. I am writing my column indoors Thursday in the air-conditioned, sandless condo.
We decided long ago and repeated many times that we would cut back the massive amount of food we brought and definitely cut back on cooking while here. Not so!
