Strawberry Fields Forever

The annual Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival, annually April fete, is in full swing as you read this article. February through April is considered prime season. Boo and I have been to the fest when there were no strawberries, just a good time. New varieties have lengthened harvesting season. With fresh strawberries, treat choices are amazing with strawberry ice cream, strawberry cakes, muffins, and pancakes to name a few. There are strawberry daiquiris, martinis, and margaritas. Local antique stores and street artisans abound.

A Tribute to Excellence

During Black History Month, we often tell stories of well-known figures whose names are etched into national history. But some of the most powerful legacies were built quietly, brick by brick, child by child, faith by faith,by ordinary people who dared to believe in an extraordinary future. Such is the story of my great-great-grandparents, Robert and Francis Dozier, whose courage and commitment to education forever shaped the town of Erath, Louisiana.

As you approach the front doors of Vermilion Catholic you will see a two-part school motto displayed above both doors. Upon entering the school building the first part reads, “Enter to Learn Christ” and as you leave the building the second part reads, “Leave to Serve Christ.”
This motto is something we strive to instill in all of our students on a daily basis.
