Carencro police go on high speed chase with Abbeville man

According to KATC, Carencro Police arrested an Abbeville man Saturday after a high-speed chase.
Timothy Shake Jr., 25, was booked with Hit and Run Driving, Reckless Operation, Aggravated Flight, DUI (2nd Offense), Possession of drugs, and possession of a firearm in the presence of drugs.
Carencro Police were called to Interstate 49 northbound near Carencro Saturday afternoon for a report of a hit-and-run crash, Chief David Anderson said.

Claude Ledet

Abbeville native shares the history behind his antique pistol

As the caretaker of his grandfather's antique pistol and police baton, Claude Ledet has preserved a piece of Abbeville history.
Ledet, who was raised in Abbeville, inherited the pistol and baton from his parents. His mother, Audrey Domingues Ledet, inherited the mementos from her father, Felicien Domingues, Jr.
Domingues worked as a sheriff's deputy for 15 years before being elected Abbeville Chief of Police. He served as Chief of Police from 1928 to his death in 1948.

Abbeville General Hospital

Abbeville General borrows money to make $1.7 million of improvements on hospital

The Vermilion Parish Police Jury gave the thumbs up to allow Abbeville General to borrow $1.7 million to make improvements to the aging hospital building.
Ray Landry, the CEO of the hospital, attended a recent police jury meeting. He had to get the police jury’s permission to let the hospital borrow the money by selling bonds.
Landry explained to the police jurors that hospital will use the sales tax it collects to pay off the debt over a 10-year period.

Erath woman dies in four-vehicle accident in Lake Charles

LAKE CHARLES - A 37-year-old Erath woman was killed in a four vehicle accident Friday night in Lake Charles on I-210.
Ltanya Rene Wilson of Erath died in the accident.
At approximately 6:01 p.m. Friday, LCPD responded to the accident on I-210 eastbound near Nelson Road; the Lake Charles Fire Department and Louisiana State Police also provided support in assisting with the crash, said Sgt. Jeffrey Keenum, LCPD spokesman.
