SULPHUR — Dianna Marie Melancon, 76, died Sunday, October 6, 2019, in her daughter’s residence.
Dianna, also known as “Ms. Dee” or “Nunu” to family and friends was a longtime resident of Abbeville before moving to Sulphur 12 years ago. She enjoyed cooking and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She attended Victory Worship Center in Sulphur.
LAFAYETTE — Funeral Services for Delores Chaumont, 74, will be held at 2 PM on Monday, October 7, 2019 at David Funeral Home of Lafayette.
Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Monday, October 7, 2019 at 10 AM until time of services.
Mrs. Delores passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. She was a Special Education teacher for twenty years and enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending most of her Friday lunch hours with her “Friday Friends.” She loved traveling and spending time with her family.
Luna passed away at the age of 85 on Tuesday, October 1, 2019. She was a longtime resident of Abbeville.
She graduated from Lafayette High School in 1952, and graduated Valedictorian of her class.
Luna was employed by the Diocese of Lafayette, and was the Cafeteria Manager at Mount Carmel Elementary, and Vermilion Catholic High School. During her 27 years at Mount Carmel Elementary she was named Manager of the year twice - Once in 1980, and then again in 1994. In 1996 Mount Carmel dedicated the school yearbook in her honor.
KAPLAN — A Mass of Christian Burial for Beverly Blanc Mire will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, in Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kaplan, LA. Rev. Fr. Gary Schexnayder will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Kaplan Cemetery.
Beverly passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019, at her home in Kaplan. She was a longtime resident of Kaplan.
A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted for Joe M. Chapman, age 84, at 10:30 on Saturday, October 5 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Delcambre, LA.
Visitation will begin at the Church at 9:00 with a rosary at 9:45.
Joe was born in Lineville, Alabama and entered the US Navy in 1954. He met his wife Barbara Chapman in the Navy and they were both honorably discharged in 1958, the year of their marriage. Joe attained his degree in Industrial Arts from USL in 1962 and later master’s degrees in education in 1972 and 1975.
